D’Amato Production isn’t just a creative studio. It’s the culmination of decades spent living and breathing underground heavy music.
Founded and led by Michael D’Amato, D’Amato Production grew out of a lifelong commitment to heavy rock culture , not just as a fan, but as a creator, promoter, and scene advocate. This journey started long before the first mix session or release strategy, and it continues to shape everything we do today.
The roots of this work stretch back to 2005, when Michael co-founded Playgroundz, originally conceived as an underground music platform dedicated to showcasing and supporting independent artists. Early on, Playgroundz streamed live concerts, hosted festivals, and published articles that gave voice to bands overlooked by mainstream outlets.

Over time, it evolved into what many in the heavy underground now know as Playgroundz.rocks, a respected independent music platform covering doom metal, stoner rock, sludge, psych, and related subgenres.
Playgroundz.rocks operates as a grassroots media outlet and growing record label under the name Playgroundz Records, providing:
- Honest album reviews
- Music premieres and streams
- Artist features and interviews
- Scene commentary rooted in tone, atmosphere, songwriting, and production
- Support for independent releases and long-term artist development
D’Amato Production evolved naturally from this culture of grassroots support and creative collaboration. After years of chronicling heavy underground music and connecting with artists, the next step was to help make the music itself, with the same passion and room-shaking authenticity that brought Playgroundz to life.
